Yuchen Zhang — Product Designer and Systems Thinker for AI-native Tools
02About me
Most products don't fail at the surface.
They fail in the system underneath.
I'm a designer who thinks systems-first. With a background in computer science, I see products as the systems they really are — states, flows, feedback loops, edge cases — and design across all of them, not just the screens.
I'm drawn to complex problems and the patience it takes to untangle them. AI-native products are full of that complexity: models, context, trust, recovery, escalation. Surface design alone can't make them work. You have to design the whole system — and ship it.
03Capabilities
Systems Design
- Map states, flows, feedback loops, and edge cases
- Turn ambiguous complexity into structured product decisions
AI Product Design
- Design AI workflows — trust, escalation, recovery — not just interfaces
- Translate model behavior into legible product moments
Research to Specification
- Build end-to-end flows from user research to high-fidelity prototype
- Ship implementation-ready specs — states, logic, cross-device behavior
Prototyping with Code
- Functional prototypes built with Cursor, Claude Code, and Figma MCP
- Bridge design intent and technical feasibility through code
